Will Google Nexus 7.7 be the first device to run on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie? Tech bloggers and analysts are looking in different directions, one of which is the path to a Motorola X Phone announcement in May. It would be interesting to see how Google would let things play out across its products now that tech companies are introducing new gadgets left and right.
There is no official word yet whether Android 5 would be ready for a full introduction by May 2013. The Nexus 7.7 is not even an official name yet. Rumours called it as such because the next Nexus 7 will reportedly come with a 7.7-in screen display.
The Google I/O is an annual developer event. It is much-anticipated primarily due to Android-related announcements. But of course gadget shoppers are reading up about it to sniff for the next device(s) from Google. The Nexus 7 was unveiled in a similar event last year in San Francisco.
Between the next-generation Nexus 7 and the Motorola X Phone, Google is more likely to repeat history with the former. The Motorola X, which is going to be Google's first device with its own Motorola Mobility unit, is still wrapped in question marks. A Nexus 5 device has also been suggested for the Key Lime Pie launch, but Nexus 4 buyers are not likely to be trilled if it happens.
Aside from the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, the Nexus 7.7 will reportedly be boasting of impressive front and rear cameras. It will reportedly feature a WUXGA display of 1920 x 1200 resolution for a pixel density of 294 ppi.
If a Nexus 7.7 actually is officially launched, it would compete with the second generation Apple iPad mini. It will also be pitted against the new 8-inch tablet from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 8. Exciting times are up ahead as anticipation builds up for the next excellent device(s) from Google. Meantime, spectators must patiently wait for two months until the I/O event.
