Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Sunday for the FA Cup quarter final, as both sides look to bounce back from disappointing European outings duing midweek.

United and Sir Alex Ferguson were left fuming on Tuesday when they were knocked out of the Champions League after a2-1 (3-2 on aggregate) loss to Real Madrid in the Round of 16; the Old Trafford leg was marred by a controversial refereeing incident that saw Nani being sent off early in the second half, with the Red Devils leading 1-0.

Chelsea, meanwhile, visit Old Trafford on the back of a disappointing 1-0 away defeat to Romanian side Steaua Bucharest, in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 clash. The eastern European club scored courtesy a first-half penalty from Raul Rusescu.

Both clubs are currently in contention for two trophies but one team could find themselves eliminated from one of those competitions on Sunday itself, provided the game does not end in a draw.

This will be the 11th FA Cup meeting between these two sides, with United leading the head-to-head record by eight wins to two. Even the immediate history in this fixture does not look good for Rafa Benitez's side, as the Blues have never won in their five previous FA Cup visits to Old Trafford, losing four and managing just one goal overall.

Manchester United: Phil Jones (ankle), Paul Scholes (knee) and Darren Fletcher (illness) are unavailable but are the only confirmed absentees for this game. However, Ferguson is likely to make a host of changes to the side that featured against Madrid on Tuesday. 

Chris Smalling will likely partner Jonny Evans in the centre of the back four. Anderson could come into centre midfield in place of Michael Carrick. Meanwhile, there could be a complete revamp of the attacking quartet, with Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck, Nani and Ryan Giggs all set to be either benched or rested. Antonio Valencia and Shinji Kagawa could partner Wayne Rooney in the three-man attacking midfield, behind target man Chicharito.

Chelsea: Chelsea have no fresh injury worries as long-term absentee Oriol Romeu (knee) is the only player who has been ruled out for this tie. Benitez will also make a number of changes to the side that lost in midweek, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Ramires, Juan Mata and Demba Ba all expected to return to the starting line-up at the expense of Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz, Ryan Bertrand, John Obi Mikel, Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres.
