India's leading auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said it will recall some of its XUV500 vehicles which were produced during 2011 and 2012 to fix the problem in fluid hose, front power window units and left wiper blade covers.
According to a statement released by the company on Friday, a select lot of XUV500 models will be recalled immediately to replace its parts, including the front window as part of its compliance with the recently announced voluntary code on vehicle recall.
"The company announced that it would carry out replacement of certain parts for a select batch of its XUV500 model. This is in keeping with its customer centric approach as well as in compliance with the recently announced voluntary code on vehicle recall", M&M said in a statement.
It also added that "this replacement would be free of cost for XUV500 customers who would be individually contacted by the Company," added the company. However, the company did not reveal the number of vehicles to be recalled.
Unveiled in 2011, the cheetah inspired XUV500 drew massive attention to its stylish frame and state-of-the-art technologies that include GPS navigation system, automatic climate controls, voice commands and sophisticated infotainment system complete with 6-inch LCD touchscreen, DVD player, Bluesense technolog and, i-pod connectivity along with six speakers.
On the mecahnical front, the XUV500 supports a 6-speed gearbox for transmission and runs on a 2.2litre mHawk diesel engine that provides 140bhp with 330Nm torque. The advanced Micro Hybrid Technology also helps it maintain fuel efficiency.
