The European Central Bank made no changes to its key lending and deposit rates at its monthly policy meeting in Frankfurt Thursday as investors continue to speculate on the financial market impact of the political turmoil in Italy.

The Bank's key refinancing rate remains unchanged at 0.75 percent while its marginal lending facility remains at 1.5 percent. The ECB's deposit rate is also unchanged at 0.0 percent. Analysts had anticipated no change in policy rates. ECB President Mario Draghi will host his monthly press briefing in Frankfurt at 1330 GMT. 

The Euro edged marginally higher following the decision to trade at $1.3036 against the US dollar.
