Forbes magazine has come up with the list of world's billionaires for 2013, which boasts of 1,426 names across the globe.
The US leads the list with 442 billionaires, followed by Asia-Pacific (386), Europe (366), the Americas (129) and the Middle East & Africa (103).
There is no change in the top two positions with Carlos Slim regaining his position as the world's richest man with a net worth of $73 billion. Microsoft founder Bill Gates came second with a net worth of $67 billion.
Interestingly, Amancio Ortega of Spanish retailer Zara moved up to the third position for the first time by adding $19.5 billion to his fortune in one year.
Ortega who was in the fifth position in last year's Forbes richest people list, has moved ahead of Warren Buffet of Berkshire Hathaway (third spot in 2012) and France's Bernard Arnault (fourth position in 2012 list). Buffet was pushed down to the fourth spot with a net worth of $53.5 billion. Oracle's Larry Ellison is the fifth richest man in the world with a fortune worth of $43 billion.
The rich list includes many new names - Diesel jeans mogul Renzo Rosso at $3 billion, retailer Bruce Nordstrom at $1.2 billion and designer Tory Burch at $1 billion.
Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian for the sixth consecutive year. As many as 55 Indians have been listed in the annual Forbes list of world's billionaires. Ambani, who has been placed in the 22nd spot, is the richest Indian with a net worth estimated at $21.5 billion (about ₹1.18 lakh crore).
Steel baron Lakshmi Mittal is the second richest of all Indians listed, with net worth of $16.5 billion. He was placed 41st in the global list of world's billionaires. Business tycoon Azim Premji, who is the third richest Indian, is ranked at the 91st position globally. Ambani, Mittal and Premji are the three Indians who made it to the list of top 100 billionaires in the world.
