Four people died at a northern New Mexico airport after the single-engine plane they were flying in crashed Sunday shortly after takeoff.

The Federal Aviation Administration has not yet determined the cause of the plane crash, but FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford told the Associated Press that the area was experiencing heavy winds Sunday afternoon.

It was unclear where the single-engine plane was headed to before it crashed around 1:24 p.m. Sunday local time at the airport in Angel Fire, N.M.

Four people – two children and two adults – died in the crash. There were no survivors, according to the AP. The victims were residents of San Antonio, KOAT reported.

FAA investigators as well as their colleagues at the National Transportation Safety Board are en route to Angel Fire to determine the cause of the crash, the AP reported.

The single-engine Mooney M20E plane was registered to Verhalen Flyers LLC of Scottsville, Texas, KLTV reported.
