Giuliana Rancic has made a bold statement concerning her family.

The Italian-American celebrity news personality stated that she puts her husband before her child. Whoa. Even if some women feel that’s something they should do, most wouldn’t admit it. After all, isn’t a child supposed to be the center of every mother’s world? Not so for Rancic.

“We're husband and wife, but we're also best friends, and it's funny because a lot of people, when they have kids, they put the baby first, and the marriage second,” the E! correspondent told Us Weekly on Tuesday. “That works for some people. For us, I find, we put our marriage first and our child second, because the best thing we can do for him is have a strong marriage.”

“So we're even stronger than we ever were before and even imagined we could be,” the 37-year-old, who married Bill Rancic in Capri, Italy, explained to the magazine. “Like Oscar morning, Duke wakes up, like, twice during the night because he's so hungry and wants to eat every four hours. So Bill, like, no question was like 'I got it. Tonight you get a good night's sleep.' And when Bill has shoots the next day or meetings the next day, I do it ... It's kind of amazing.”

She added:

“I always say to Bill, 'You were my first baby,' because he was! He was my first love and my first baby and Duke is my second baby.”

The Rancics welcomed their first child, Edward Duke, via a gestational surrogate in August.

The television personality had been struggling to get pregnant for years and during her third in vitro fertilization attempt she underwent a mammogram as suggested by her doctor and discovered she had breast cancer.

"When you go through something like this, your spouse either sinks or swims, and Bill definitely proved he’s a swimmer," Rancic told The Hollywood Reporter about her husband in April. "I mean, he swam the English Channel in this one, so he’s a pretty incredible person."

The two are hoping to welcome a second child into their life soon, according to the Huffington Post. She has frozen her embryos and plans on using a gestational surrogate again.
