Jamier Carragher has revealed he's been very impressed by Liverpool's youth squad, after the senior squad took part in a training session alongside their younger counterparts this week.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has given opportunities to a host of teens this season, with Raheem Sterling, Andre Wisdom and Suso handed opportunities to shine alongside the club's best.
And with this inspiration for the rest of the team to make the move into the senior side, Carragher said he could see his own qualities in a lot of the younger players during the mixed training session.
"I was very impressed with the young players," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "They were so hungry to learn and soak up everything we were showing and telling them.
"I joined the academy when I was just nine years old and I can see myself in a lot of them. That same passion for the badge that doesn't ever go away."
Youth Academy director Frank McParland also revealed that the youngsters are learning along the lines of Rodgers' philosophies with the first team; to play fast attacking football where possession is key.
He explained: "The style of play at the Academy matches that of the first team. Fluid, touch and pass football.
"This matched with sessions such as these will go a long way in giving the youngsters a sense of connection with senior players, helping them make a seamless transition to the first team."
Liverpool have made some big changes to their squad and style this season, with the club looking towards a younger group who can produce long-term results.
And with Sterling now starting to get a look in for England, the club can confidently say their latest crop of young stars have a lot of potential.
