MWC 2013: Nokia Asha 305 Crowned ‘Best Feature Phone’, Beats Samsung Champ Deluxe C3312

Finnish handset maker Nokia, which is still riding high over the record sales of its Asha smartphone series, added another feather to its cap by winning the Global Mobile Award for 'Best Feature Phone'(Entry Level Phone) at the ongoing international mobile convention MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona.

Nokia's Asha 305 trumped Samsung's Champ Deluxe C3312, as well as its own sibling handsets Asha 103 and 302.

"We're proud that the Nokia Asha 305 has been recognized by one of the world's leading voices for the mobile industry," said Jussi Nevanlinna, vice president of marketing, Mobile Phones, Nokia.

"The entire Asha Touch family has gone from strength to strength, recently achieving smartphone status from Gfk and achieving no. 1 status as the best-selling smartphone in its price point across 25 countries."

The global mobile technology award is sponsored by GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communication Association), a group consisting of major mobile operators and related companies. It has been organizing the MWC event annually for the past 18 years.

This year's 'GSMA Awards' saw a record-breaking 158 nominees across eight categories. Among the winners were Samsung Galaxy Camera for the 'Best Mobile Enabled Consumer Electronics Device' award, and Facebook for the "Best Mobile App for Consumers" title.
