Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer move for Udinese forward Matej Vydra.
The 20-year-old, who is on loan at Watford, has netted 20 goals in the Championship from 30 appearances (21 starts) this season, helping the Hornets to move up to second in the league table.
The youngster's sublime scoring form has alerted a host of top clubs, including the Gunners, who are now keen make an approach to snap up the Czech Republic international in the summer, according to Goal.com.
The report claims Arsene Wenger's chief scout Steve Rowley has been watching Vydra of late. It is understood that Udinese would hold out for at least £10m before considering parting with their Czech prodigy.
Arteta: Players are to Blame
Meanwhile, Arsenal vice-captain Mikel Arteta insists Wenger is not to blame for the club's recent struggles.
The north London outfit are set to finish yet another season without any silverware, having been eliminated from the FA Cup by Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates last weekend, before losing 3-1 to Bayern Munich in the first leg of a Champions League Round of 16 tie days later. However, Arteta feels players' individual errors are to blame and not the manager's tactics.
"I don't know if it's nerves, but when things aren't going in your direction, like the Blackburn game [where] you analyse the stats of the game, it's absolutely amazing that we haven't won the game. Sometimes [mistakes come from] a bit of a lack of concentration. For every small detail, the other teams are taking advantage and it's costing us a lot of points," the Spaniard told the Arsenal Web site.
"Everyone makes mistakes during the game and you can't fault a player for that. If it's a lack of attitude, yes. I'm the first one to get him by the neck, because we can't accept that. If it's a mistake when you take a risk, that can happen," the midfielder added.
Arsenal travel to White Hart Lane to face cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial Premier League tie next week.
