The Academy Awards not only recognises excellence in world cinema but is also an occasion when celebrities are judged for the fashion quotient on the red carpet.

With the commencement of the 85th edition of the Academy Awards at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre on 24 February, style gurus have begun scanning for the best and the worst dressed celebrities.

While many stars made their mark on the red carpet with stunning and elegant attires, others were unfortunately placed in the 'worst dressed' category at the Oscars 2013.

The beautiful and the gorgeous Anne Hathaway, who won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in "Les Miserables", was among the unfortunate ones placed under the fashion scanner. The actress, who usually turned up immaculately dressed for the Awards, got a thumbs down for her pale pink Prada gown that screamed simplicity and looked rather boring.

Other celebrities to join Hathaway in the worst dressed category were Melissa McCarthy, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Rowland and Olivia Munn.
