Aishwarya was attending the second edition of the Zindagi Live Awards when she said that a lot of discussions were being made to enhance women's safety but very little was being done to implement much-needed measures.
"I don't feel fear, rather there is a lot of anger and I don't hesitate to say this. Many of us are privileged to have a lot of assurance about our safety but most of the women in our country do not have that" PTI reported her as saying.
The 39-year-old actress, who is a mother to one-year-old daughter, urged that a definite law should be in place to punish offenders in cases of sexual offence."A lot is being said but a lot more needs to be done about it. There should be definite laws for offenders. They should be punished immediately. That is when we will see the change in the society," she said.

The award function, which was organized to felicitate eight women who challenged social stigmas, was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Union minister Farooq Abdullah.
Aishwarya also said that she was gald that people are now rallying for women's safety through public forums after the brutal gang rape in Delhi last year. "Such incidents still happen though. It also happened the very next day of the Delhi gangrape. But I am glad that we are talking about it. The incident has brought about a lot of attention and awareness but the change needs to come immediately," the actress said.
