A man has been charged with murdering teenager Peter Hagan in a south London tower block.

College student Hagan, 16, was knifed to death as he fled a party in Wandsworth where a fight had broken out.

Police mounted a hunt for up to up eight young men spotted fleeing Albion House. A string of arrests followed.

Rommell Martin, 21, of Thornton Heath, south London, was among those held and will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with murder.

Hagan was the second London teenager killed during a recent weekend of bloodshed. Hackney student Joseph Burke-Monerville was shot dead in an unrelated incident as he sat in a car on east London's notorious 'murder mile' in Clapton.

The deaths brought to five the toll of teenage killings in the capital in 2013.

Peter Hagan's family mourned the loss of his cousin Carl Asiedu to youth violence in 2009 after he was stabbed to death in a nightclub in Vauxhall, south London.

"The fact that he is gone  hurts so much," said a relative of peter Hagan.

"I cannot believe I will not see him again. Sad is too good and upset is too nice a way to describe what I feel.

"To know that he is not going to walk through that door again - it's so upsetting.

"It is painful to think that somebody had the intention to kill him. It was not meant to be him."
