The federal holiday has over the years acquired a reputation for playing host to better discounts than consumers would find during other holidays.

Charlie Graham, founder and CEO of personalized apparel and accessories shopping site Shop It To Me, told ABC News that past President's Day online sales have higher average discounts than both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

"In the case of Presidents' Day, you have a smaller percentage of items on sale, but those items on sale have a much higher discount," Graham said.

Graham goes on to chalk the sales up to businesses wanting to clear out their winter inventory in an effort to make room for incoming spring items.

"It's a good opportunity to grab some good deals for the end of season and next year," he added.
