Couples all over the world celebrated the 2013 Valentine's Day. Some people had the traditional romantic dinner with flowers and chocolates while the others took the celebration to a whole new level inspired from the "Fifty Shades of Grey" craze.
It appears that the BDSM relationship of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele had a strong impact on some couples. They sported some kinky items from the successful erotic novels of author E.L. James like the gray tie, some hot wax, a blindfold, the tickler, a sexy plum dress, special beads that give mind-blowing orgasms and the famous paddle for spanking.
Lisa Phillips, the operations manager at Industrial Luv in Regina, Canada confirmed the customer's increasing purchasing trend on the mentioned erotic items. "This particular Valentine's Day, more people coming in looking for floggers and paddles and some various restraint systems. There's definitely a pre and post 50 Shades, it's very recognizable in the industry," Phillips stated.
Her 8-year experience in the adult toy industry allowed Lisa Phillips to witness the high demand on items used in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novels. "There's more people coming in, there's more people that have specific sets of toys that they will be coming in for," Phillips shared.
Lisa Phillips further explained: "Their wife or partner was reading the 50 Shades series and was getting to be a little bit naughtier in the bedroom than they used to be so they needed to pick up some supplies to accommodate for that." Based on Industry Luv's item sale on Valentine's Day, Lisa Phillips confirmed that lingerie and different adult toys are among the well-liked gifts.
Some people openly talked about the idea of receiving sex toys as gifts while the others find it inappropriate. "It depends on who it's from but yeah why not enjoy yourself," an unnamed woman stated. "Probably not, for me that would have to be something inside marriage," another unnamed person expressed.
