Kobe Bryant’s four-point, eight-turnover performance may not have been the biggest story of the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.
Will Ferrell made headlines by working security during the contest. The comedic actor sported the red coat that is traditional worn by the security guards that stand courtside at Staples Center. On his jacket, Ferrell wore a name tag with the name “Ted” on it.
Will Ferrell played an ABA player in the movie "Semi-Pro."
At one point in the contest, Ferrell asked Shaquille O’Neal, who was sitting underneath the basket, to get out of his seat. Ferrell proceeded to escort the former L.A. center towards the exit.
This isn’t the first time Ferrell has pulled a stunt at an NBA game. Last year, he read the player introductions at a New Orleans Hornets game.
Ferrell has starred in multiple comedic sports films. In “Semi-Pro,” he portrayed Jackie Moon, the owner of a fictional ABA franchise that ended up playing for and coaching the team.
Celebrities are known for attending Lakers game, but not working them. Jack Nicholson is the widely known for his fandom, appearing courtside at most games.
Below is the video of Ferrell working the game, as well as ejecting O’Neal.
