Beyonce slammed for her lizard and snake outfit at the Super Bowl
Beyonce has been slammed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) for the animal skin outfit she wore while performing at the Super Bowl on 3 February.
The singer wore a creation designed by Rubin Singer that had been constructed from strips of python, iguana and cow.
Peta said the costume "missed the mark" and that if Beyonce saw the cruelty inflicted on the animals used to construct her outfit, she would have thought twice about wearing it.
Her outfit consisted of a leather motorcycle jacket and a bodysuit made from snakes and lizards.
"We would take a bet that if Beyonce watched our video exposés, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits, or other animals who died painfully," the animal rights group said.
"Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyonce's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score."
The singer has been continually berated by Peta over the years and was most recently criticised for wearing mink to president Obama's inauguration.
She was also lambasted for her mink coat by Friends of Animals, which wrote an open letter to the singer after the ceremony.

The letter read: "Friends of Animals' members and supporters were among the millions who saw, or will see images of, you in a Christian Dior mink coat.
"What does it mean when one of the most popular musicians in the world endorses the fur trade in such a dramatic way? The message is that fur-bearing animals who are shot, clubbed, electrocuted, caught in traps, or have their necks broken on breeding farms don't matter.
"Their skins are viewed as belonging to humans. It's a destructive and irresponsible message to many who deeply admire you.
"Opulent, elegant, but most of all conscientious alternatives to fur abound, and to commit to ethical fashion statements would educate your fans in a meaningful way. You have the power to turn your message around."
After the Super Bowl, Beyonce announced she will be going on her Mrs Carter Tour around the world this year and will be selling tickets at a low price, so she can attract all her fans.
A source told US Weekly: "There are plenty of tickets at low prices in every city so Beyonce can make sure all of her fans can see the show. And there are similarly low-priced tickets in every worldwide city."
"She takes care of all her fans so that every one of them can see her."
The singer will be performing in the UK and Ireland for a number of dates in April and May.
