Kim Kardashian is facing backlash after she tweeted out a photo of a diamond encrusted hand gun just weeks after urging the public to sign a pledge to help combat gun violence following the Sandy Hook massacre.
The reality star shared an image of the gold and platinum gun that glittered along its handle with diamonds Saturday, but quickly deleted the image after critical comments began flooding in. Some complemented Kardashian on the gun, but most expressed finding her actions hypocritical.
“@KimKardashian You have too much influence to be this blind and ignorant. Innocent children & people still die even if the gun is pretty,” one of her followers tweeted in response to the image, according to ABC News.
“Kim Kardashian is quite dense, isn't she? Pledging to support the gun control movement and then uploading pictures of designer handguns...,” another person tweeted, according to the Daily Mail.
It was in mid-January when Kim took to Twitter to pledge her own support to gun violence awareness after the tragic shooting at Sand Hook Elementary school took the lives of 26 people, most of them children.
“Today, people in Newtown are making the #sandyhookpromise to reduce gun violence. Sign the pledge with me,” she tweeted.
But Kardashian has apparently long been a gun enthusiast.
The reality star notably shared a photo of an Yves Saint Laurent plated pistol with the caption, “Bang, Bang” on her Instagram last June. Not long prior, she, sisters, Kourtney and Khole and mother Kris, visited a shooting range in order to learn to properly shoot a gun, following the vandalizing of one of their retail stores, according to the UK Sun.
In August, an image of Kardashian holding a Beretta shotgun while on a family vacation surfaced.
