The Windows Phone 7.8 update was offered to the Nokia Lumia 800 users to improve their device from the existing Windows 7.5. However, complaints began to surface concerning the low music volume that the software update caused.
Nokia's objective for the said update is to let the Windows Phone 7.5 users experience a new and fresh device. Windows Phone 7.8 update offers new features such as re-sizeable Live Tiles and using the Bing wallpaper background on the lock screen as well as the 20 themes found on the Windows Phone 8.
The Nokia Lumia 800 low music volume obviously disappointed the numerous device enthusiasts. They have complained on the Nokia Discussions Forum that the music volume level of 15 before the Windows Phone 7.8 update sounds the same as the music volume level of 13 after the software upgrade.
"I updated my lumia 800 from nokia care here in kolkata and the sound quality is very frustrating!!! I can barely hear it while commuting! Till now i could hear the songs clearly at 21-22, but now even 30 isn't enough. Nokia please release a fix to this problem!" commented an unnamed user on the Nokia Support Discussions.
Another user expressed frustration on the device's volume quality and stated on the forum: "I have the same problem after updating to WP7.8, the volume level is terribly low. I love my Lumia 800 and I was really looking forward to get this update but now I am very disappointed. Please, provide a fix for this problem as soon as possible, it is very frustrating."
Nokia appears to have a history on sound problems with their Lumia devices. The Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are both affected with poor sound quality where the audio repeatedly gets capped when music is loudly played.
This low music volume issues on the Windows Phone 7.8 update has taken the limelight away from the remarkable features offered. Meanwhile, Nokia has not yet released a statement to acknowledge the problem or provide a solution for the upset device users.
