Sony Xperia Z is going to be released soon in Australia. Speculations suggest a March 1 official release. How does the new Sony flagship smartphone fare against existing popular Android smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3?

Galaxy S3, Xperia Z Price Difference

Online stores selling the Galaxy S3 show a price range of AU$470 to AU$840. It has 16GB and 32GB variants, and it allows a storage expansion of up to 32GB in flash memory.

In contrast, the new entrant Xperia Z price tag displays AU$749 on MobiCity. The latest Sony smartphone has a microSD/HC slot for up to 32 GB of storage expansion.

To grasp the price difference between the two Android smartphones, buyers are advised to look closely into the specs of both gadgets.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs 'In and Out'

Galaxy S3 is fueled by the combination of 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 and Samsung Exynos 4 Quad SoC. International versions carry 1 GB RAM, while selected markets have 2 GB RAM.

Galaxy S3's rear camera features 8 MP resolution, with LED flash and autofocus. This camera can take HD video (1080p) at 30 frames/s. The display screen is quite appealing at 1280×720 pixel (720p) resolution, with a pixel density of about 306 pixels per inch. This is quality-driven phone for only a couple hundred dollars.

Sony Xperia Z Specs 'In and Out'

Xperia Z has the advantage of being the new entrant, one of the first toys to be officially unveiled in 2013. It boasts of waterproof and dustproof features, Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, and 13 MP camera with various fun features for the mobile photographer.

Inside Xperia Z is the merged powers of Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, Adreno 320 GPU, and 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait. Its battery is extended by the Sony feature called Stamina Mode. Its slightly bigger 5-in screen displays 441 pixels per inch and enhanced further by Sony OmniContrast (less reflection technology).

The answer to "Which phone is better" always comes back to the user because every gadget shopper has certain priorities. If price is not an issue, however, the waterproof "special power" of Xperia Z is quite hard to resist.
