March natural gas prices registered a lower low during the early Monday morning hours. There appeared to be a measure of conflict regarding near-term US weather forecasts and their impact on heat-related demand for natural gas. The Commitments of Traders Futures and Options report as of January 29th showed non-commercial traders were net short 145,434 contracts, a decrease of 2,585. Non-commercial and nonreportable traders combined held a net short position of 124,399 contracts, for a decrease of 7,465 in their net short positioning.
