Despite being caught in a string of controversies, Kamal Haasan's mega-budget film "Vishwaroopam" has held a strong position at the overseas box offices.

The spy thriller managed to keep audiences entertained in its second week. The Tamil version of the film raked in ₹4.05 crore and ₹1.64 crore from US and UK box offices, respectively, after seven days of its release.

Even after the release of new films like "Kadal" and "David", the Kamal Haasan starrer is going strong in the international market.

"USA: Tamil film #Vishwaroopam [2nd Week] Fri $ 48,790. Total: $ 761,643 [₹4.05 crores]. Excellent! UK: Tamil film #Vishwaroopam [2nd Week] Fri £ 14,889, Sat £ 33,764. Total: £ 196,207 [₹1.64 crores]. Rock-steady!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

In India, the Hindi version of the movie "Vishwaroop" was released on Feb 1 in Mumbai, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. It received mixed reviews from critics upon its release. The first day morning shows were dull, but the business picked up later in evening.

The first day collection of the film at domestic box offices stands at ₹1.89 crore.

Kamal plays the lead character in the bilingual film and Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat are cast in the supporting roles.

The film was scheduled to release worldwide on Jan 25, but due to its content the screening was banned in Tamil Nadu and some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
