Beyoncé gave her answer Thursday to the backlash she got for lip-syncing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the presidential inauguration, by singing the National Anthem live at news conference touting the Super Bowl halftime show.
The R&B diva started the conference by singing an a capella “Star-Spangled Banner,” and then asked, “Does anybody have any questions?”
The singer admitted to singing along with a "prerecorded track" at the inauguration, giving as a reason that she had no time to practice with the U.S. Marine Corps Band.
“I am a perfectionist, and one thing about me: I practice until my feet bleed," she said. "I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra ... due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper soundtrack, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk ... so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the recording industry. And I am very proud of my performance.”
Asked whether she will sing live at her Super Bowl halftime performance, Beyoncé stated, “I will absolutely be singing live.”
The singer answered a range of questions, including “what is the color of your toothbrush?” to which she answered, blue and white, possibly yellow.
She also hinted that she may reveal news about a tour after her Super Bowl performance.
Beyoncé detailed that she will spend her down time after the Super Bowl enjoying her daughter, Blue Ivy.
