Tottenham have decided against making a last minute swoop for Leandro Damiao, according to reports, with the club unable to come to a deal for the Brazilian who is believed to be worth around £18m.
It seemed that history was repeating itself for Spurs as deadline day rolled around, with the possibility of a deal for Damiao set to go to the wire.
Multiple sources have reported that the 23 year old, who is hot property in Brazil after starring for both Internacional and the national side, was set to go to Tottenham today as Andre Villas-Boas sweats over his side's attacking options.
But the Independent are reporting that Damiao won't leave his home country until the summer at least, with complications in the deal said to have forced Tottenham out of the deal.
There are believed to be issues surrounding whether the star will be paid for in one installment or three, and whilst Spurs don't want to give all of the £18m up front, Internacional are playing hardball in the hopes of receiving a serious cash injection before the day is out.
Daniel Levy has long been an admirer of Damiao, with the chairman targeting the hitman since 2011. But Levy is not one to pay over the odds for a player, or compromise on his terms, and a summer deal is now looking much more likely as deadline day comes to a close.
