Beyoncé isn’t the only celebrity bringing star power to Sunday’s Super Bowl.
When the Baltimore Ravens square off against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, both teams will have famous fans rooting for them.
In the Ravens corner are actor Josh Charles, Baltimore native and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, New York Knicks Superstar Carmelo Anthony and former WWE wrestler and George Clooney’s current girlfriend, Stacy Keibler.
The 49ers aren’t without their share of celebrity fans. Among the stars who will be pulling for San Francisco in the Super Bowl include actors Robin Williams and Jennifer Garner, singer Huey Lewis and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)
It’s fitting that both the Ravens and 49ers will be having celebrity fans rooting for them in the Super Bowl, because one of the major stories headed into Sunday’s game could have been scripted by Hollywood.
In Sunday’s game, Ravens coach John Harbaugh will be going up against his younger brother, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.
It’s the first time two brothers will be coaching opposing teams in the Super Bowl and the distinction also marks the first time two brothers are coaching opposing sides in the championship game of a major American sport.
In another Super Bowl story, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis announced he would retire at the end of the season. Should Baltimore defeat San Francisco, Lewis would retire on the top by adding another Super Bowl ring to his career.
However, as excitement builds for Super Bowl XLVII, oddsmakers believe Lewis will end his career in defeat.
Bookmaker sportsbook.com lists the 49ers as a 3 ½-point favorite for Sunday’s game as of Thursday morning. That gives Wiliams, Garner, Lewis and Pelosi reason to cheer, and Phelps, Anthony, Keibler and Charles reason to worry.
At bookmaker bovada.lv, the spread is slightly higher, with San Francisco listed as a 4-point favorite as of Thursday morning.
