Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti have announced they will split after more than a decade of marriage. 

"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed," Judd and Franchitti told People in a joint statement on Tuesday.

On Tuesday after giving the statement, 44-year-old Judd tweeted: "Family forever." 

Judd first met Franchitti, a 39-year-old racecar driver, at a mutual friend’s wedding reception in 1999. The pair were engaged for two years before tying the knot in Scotland in 2001.

Most recently, the couple celebrated their 11^th wedding anniversary on 12-12-12, which Judd tweeted: “Experiencing a profoundly poignant, unique, beautiful 11th Wedding Anniversary with my Love, Dario Franchitti. Family is irreplaceable.”

Meanwhile, Judd is still considering a run for Kentucky Senate.

"I am incredibly honored and frankly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support — that the people of Kentucky are interested in having me represent them is the greatest honor of my life so far, and I am certainly taking a close look at it," Judd said last week at The Kentucky Society of Washington's Bluegrass Ball in Washington, D.C. "The people of Kentucky need a fighter and certainly going back 10 generations, I've got some fighters from those hills in my family and as soon as I know anything — after I've told the family members to whom I've made my promises that they'll be the first to know — you will be up to date in real time."

However, her publicist Cara Tripicchio told Politico that Judd is still undecided about a Senate bid.

“Ashley has yet to decide about running for the United States Senate. She is honored by the incredible encouragement from her fellow Kentuckians and the national interest, including Senator McConnell,” Tripicchio said.
