The 19th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards were held on Sunday at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles. And it was an evening of glamour and fashion, with Hollywood's leading ladies impeccably turned out.

The Hunger Games star, Jennifer Lawrence, won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. And the 22-year-old American actress was stunning in a midnight blue Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture gown.

"Now I have this naked statue that means some of you even voted for me, and that is an indescribable feeling," Lawrence said after receiving the award.

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck's Argo continues to impress critics and garner the wins. The thriller, based on the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive Americans from Iran, won Best Drama and Best Director at the Golden Globes earlier in the year. And at the SAG Awards, Argo walked away with the award for Best Cast.

The 40-year-old star of films like The Town, Good Will Hunting and Pearl Harbour deflected praise for Argo on to the "incredible people who were in this movie".

Finally, the evening also saw a Lifetime Achievement to 87-year-old Dick Van Dyke. The legendary actor, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor (Motion picture Musical or Comedy) for his role in the 1964 classic Mary Poppins, delivered an emotional speech about his life in the film industry.

"I've knocked around in this business for 70 years and I still haven't quite figured out what it is that I do. But the years have just been full of surprises for me and a lot of fun -- Aren't we lucky to have found a line of work that doesn't require growing up? I love that," Van Dyke said.

"I'm looking at the greatest generation of actors in the history of acting," he added, "You've all lifted the art to another place now... if this very heavy object right here means that I can refer to you as my peers, then I'm a very lucky man."
