Celebrities React Negatively to Instagram News: From Kim Kardashian to Michelle Branch [PHOTOS]
Celebrities are reacting quite negatively to Instagram's announcement earlier this week. Is everyone in tinsel town being screwed over their photos? Apparently, that's what Kim Kardashian and a few other think. What is really going down with Instagram and its' many users?
The popular photo-sharing website and application had recently announced a new intellectual-property policy. On Monday, Instagram announced that the Facebook-owned company would own perpetual rights to sell users' photographs without notifying and compensating the user. This new policy is set to take effect on January 16, 2013.
Some celebrities have gone to extremes announcing negative connotations toward the photo sharing app of which may be seen by clicking the slideshow. However, before everyone starts to follow the hash tag that is trending on Twitter, #BoycottInstagram, there have been misconceptions regarding the new policy.
"It was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation," explained CEO Kevin Systrom in a blog post on Tuesday, adding, "This is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing. To be clear: It is not our intention to sell your photos. We are working on updated language in the terms to make sure this is clear."
"Instagram users own their content and Instagram does not claim any ownership rights over your photos," wrote Systrom, adding, "Nothing about this has changed."
Thankfully, that has been cleared up. Celebrities who have initially bid good bye to the photo-sharing app better retract their statements and get back to posting their lovable photos - that fans just can't get enough of.
