For “Dallas Buyers Club,” slated to be released in 2013, Leto is playing a cross-dressing rocker who is dying of AIDS, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner  also star in “Dallas Buyers Club,” which is currently filming. The movie is based on the true story of electrician Ron Woodroof, played by McConaughey, who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and was given six months to live. When then-available U.S. drugs fail him, Woodroof begins smuggling alternative medicine from around the world and soon other AIDS patients flock to him for these medicines that were unavailable in the United States.

Leto was recently seen in drag for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club,” reports Huffington Post. McConaughey also underwent a dramatic transformation, losing more thanr 30 pounds to play Woodroof.

“Dallas Buyers Club” will be the first film role for Leto since playing Chapman in 2007. Leto has recently been focused on his music career, fronting the platinum-selling 30 Seconds to Mars. A fellow musician, Bradford Cox, indie rocker and frontman of Deerhunter, has also been cast in the movie. Cox will be playing Leto's lover.
