The ladies showed off their best outfit and looks as they graced the red carpet at the 40th American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles. 

Taylor Swift shone at the event in a Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2012 long sleeve mini dress which featured intricate gold beadwork and a sexy open back. The 22-year-old Love Story singer combined it with Neil Lane jewels and golden Jimmy Choo sandals. She kept her looks simple opting for smoky eyes, nude lips and a chic hair updo.

German supermodel Heidi Klum also went in for a golden dress and shimmered in a gold Alexander Vauthier outfit and opted for Christian Louboutin shoes, completing it with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Meanwhile, George Clooney's girlfriend, television personality and former wrestler Stacy Keibler, went for a metallic ensemble and wore a bejeweled Collette Dinnigan Fall '12 collection dress. She completed the look with golden pumps and offset it with a sleek black clutch, a single cocktail ring, and left her hair in loose waves.  

Nicki Minaj wore a gorgeous lime-green draped trumpet gown from Monique Lhuillier's Resort 2013 collection, left her curly blonde hair open and her signature bright-pink lip color completed her look. 

Christina Aguilera showed off her curves in a Pamela Roland dress and combined it with Jimmy Choo shoes, Neil Lane jewellery and a Judith Leiber bag and flaunted her latest new short hair.

Gwen Stefani looked chic in a Balmain Fall 2012 black velvet fully embellished blazer with leather pants and a black bralette. She accessorised it with black pumps, a silver crucifix and a pearl necklace.

Ginnifer Goodwin was as cute as ever in an Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013 cocktail dress and matched it with a Judith Leiber mirrored clutch and silver Jimmy Choo 'Lance' sandals.

The highlight of the awards show was performances by stars such as Justin Bieber Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Pitbull, No Doubt, Usher and Carly Rae Jepsen.
