German automaker BMW has revealed the concept design of its new Boxer model which will mark the 90th anniversary of Motorrad, the motorcycle division of the company.
BMW Motorrad President Stephan Schalle showed off the design of the next retro motorcycle at this year's International Motorcycle Show (EICMA) in Milan and said that the company will start the production of the new bike early next year. The new Boxer from BMW Motorrad will come with an air-cooled "boxer" engine, and will pack all the poignant styling and technologies of the Motorrad brand, which spanned 90 long years in the market.
At EICMA, the company showcased three anniversary editions namely R1200R, the R1200RT and the R1200GS. "All three are finished in elegant black with gold-colored model inscription, gold-anodised suspension elements and an exclusive brass plate on the fork bridge. All this stands for the passion of pure fascination - lasting 90 years," BMW said.
BMW Motorrad first came to the motorcycle market in 1923 with the BMW R 32, and since then the company has rolled out a number of models. Motorrad is known for its exclusive designs and technologies of motorcycles.
According to reports, the sketch design of the new Boxer appeared to be the reincarnated version of the first boxer R 32 which formed the basis of many other successor models. Motorrad will reveal the model designation and launch date later in the coming days.
