Zombie fans, rejoice. The past few years have seen a rise in excellent zombie-related media, from AMC's “The Walking Dead” television series to the Valve Corp.’s “Left 4 Dead” video games.
Now, given the trailer for Brad Pitt’s “World War Z,” we might have another classic zombie film on our collective hands.
“World War Z” features Pitt as a United Nations employee -- probably one with some military training -- on a mission to stop the zombie apocalypse from destroying the world, all while he knows he is leaving his wife and daughter behind at a dangerous time.
The trailer premiered Friday and shows Pitt and his family departing a New York ravaged by zombies as he begins his mission to rid the world of the undead. While we don’t get any close-ups of the zombies themselves, the huge masses of the undead look legitimately terrifying.
One of the most interesting things about “World War Z” may be the movie’s unique perspective. Most zombie flicks follow a small, ragtag group of survivors as they simply attempt to survive the end of days. “World War Z,” though, looks like it will focus on Pitt’s character while on his U.N. mission to save the world from the zombie apocalypse.
If nothing else, “World War Z” might be an interesting change of pace, meaning viewers won't have to watch a small band of survivors bicker among themselves over scarce resources.
“World War Z” will explode in theaters June 13, but you can watch the trailer for it here and now:
