Notre Dame vs Boston College: Where to Watch Online, Betting Odds, Preview
November 11, 2012 8:47 AM EST
After surviving a huge scare last week the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue their best season in two decades as they meet the Boston College Eagles Saturday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Irish needed three overtimes and two field goals of 40-plus yards by kicker Kevin Harper at home to put away Pittsburgh for a 29-26 win.
Notre Dame out-gained the Panthers 522 to 308, but were in a 20-6 hole heading into the fourth quarter due to three costly turnovers. Quarterback Everett Golson then threw two touchdown passes and converted a two-point conversion in regulation to knot the game at 20.
It was the most points and yards the second-ranked Irish defense had given up all season, and they some how have 10 turnovers at home opposed to only one on the road this season.
So a road trip may be the best solution for Notre Dame, who will take on a Boston College team that has just one win against an FBS school.
The Eagles fell to Wake Forest 28-14 last week behind four turnovers and just 12 yards rushing. Quarterback Chase Retting accounted for most of the turnovers with three interceptions, and went 29-for-49 for 357 yards and one touchdown.
Though according to the Associated Press, Boston College has a history of thwarting undefeated Notre Dame seasons. The Eagles spoiled an 8-0 season in 2002, and a 10-0 mark in 1993.
The contest begins at 8 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast by ABC.
Prediction: The Irish defense should come out firing after last week’s poor performance, and if the offense can hold on to the ball Notre Dame will remain undefeated.
Betting Odds: Notre Dame is favored by 20.5 points
Over/Under: 48 points
Predicted Score: Notre Dame 30, Boston College 10
