Barack Obama has won the US presidential elections with a comfortable margin and is set to embark on his second tenure in the White House. In a presidential race that was tight till the end and volatile opinion poll results indicating a cliffhanger, Obama has come out as a clear winner.
The U.S presidential elections remain a favorite with astrologers who with the aid of a number of tools ranging from astrological calculations, the influence of celestial bodies to sixth sense intuitions and divine interpretations have been predicting the ordained winner for the White house.
Predictions were aplenty even this year as astrologers –- western, modern, eastern, Vedic and tantric -- predicted either an Obama or a Mitt Romney victory, employing different techniques depending on their streams of specialization.
Majority of the astrologers, who have made it to the media with their predictions or published their predictions on the internet had predicted an Obama win in the 2012 elections. The astrologers at the United Astrology Conference (UAC) in November 2011 had predicted an Obama victory in 2012 elections.
However, most of them predicted a close race and election related lawsuits as happened in the 2000 elections, due to the retrograde movement of Mercury on Election Day.
Some of the predictions also proclaimed a win for Obama in popular vote followed by
Here is a list of astrologers who hit the bulls-eye and those who didn't.
Second Term for Obama
Two leading astrologers, Chris Brennan and Patrick Watson, in their article titled Prediction for the 2012 US Presidential Election published on April 29, 2012, had said that “both candidates go into important “peak periods” in the summer prior to the election, but that Romney begins a more difficult sub-period starting in mid-October, right before the second debate, ultimately resulting in the loss of the election in November.”
Susan Miller, astrologer at the Astrology Zone, had predicted the elections would be too close and be “much like the Al Gore/George W. Bush mess back in 2000, with a 'too close to call' race.”
Sandeep Kochar, Zee News astrologer, had said: “As per Vedic astrology Barack Obama is all set to become the president of the United States of America for the second time in succession, because of Barack's Jupiter-Saturn combination on the Ascendant he will be blessed with good fortune.”
Chicago-based astrologist Nina Gryphon too foretold victory for Obama. “It’s obvious. Obama stays where he is without a change in status,” she said.
“Application of Obama’s significator to exalted Sun indicates victory. Romney’s significator makes no applying aspects, which is seen as negative,” she said in her article published as Forecast: U.S. Presidential Election 2012, in Gryphon Astrology Blog (website) on March 17, 2012. Astrochicks, an astrology website, had predicted an Obama victory, but said it will not be an easy victory. “We expect lots of drama and chaos on Election Day and with the retrograde happening in Sagittarius there are likely to be legal challenges and one candidate will win the popular vote with another winning the electoral vote,” the website said.
Gurmeet Singh, an Indian astrologer, in a Nov. 26, 2010 prediction, said Obama would win the 2012 elections very easily and wiould get re-elected as the President of United States for a second term. However, her prediction that Hillary Clinton would replace Joe Biden for the Vice President’s position in 2012 elections went wrong.
A survey on politicalastrologyblog.com, which claims to be a non-partisan astrology blog dedicated to politics, had 31 astrologers predicting an Obama win compared to 14 other astrologers who foresaw Romney moving into White House.
The Political Astrology Blog’s on prediction favoured an Obama win; “difficult period for Romney lasts all the way until early December, and so it appears to reflect that he will lose the election, since Obama encounters nothing comparably difficult during the same time frame.”
Astrologer Henry Murkin, quoted by the Weekly world news, had said that ”Romney is headed back to his home in New Hampshire in January and Obama will become the greatest President that ever lived. That’s what the stars say.”
Astrologer Donal Holland, who rightly predicted both the Irish and French presidential elections, said that an analysis of Barack Obama’s astrological birth-chart for the 2012 elections clearly showed he would lose the second term while Romney would be the clear winner.
Michael “Wolfstar” O’Reilly, a follower of modern western astrology in November 2012 issue of Dell Horoscope said: “transiting Saturn moving into the Scorpio ascendant of the US chart indicates a shift towards conservatism, and thus the conservative candidate winning,” indicating a Romney win..
Madam Charlene Lichtenstein also similarly predicted an Obama defeat, pointing out that Obama was nominated at the DNC in September under a 'Void of Course' Moon.
“…the nomination and acceptance of the nomination during the Void of Course moon is the clincher for me to call the election for the Republicans,” she wrote in her article - According to Astrology, The Next US President Will Be …, in Madam Lichtenstein’s Cosmic World (blog), on Sept. 10, 2012.
