Reports on Windows Phone 8 suggest that Microsoft's recently launched mobile operating system lacks a notification center. While competitors Android and iOS both include a notification center that showcases alerts triggered by applications, Microsoft lags behind in this element, The Verge has reported.

Apparently, during a session on notifications at Build, Microsoft's conference for Windows Developers Nov.1, Thomas Fennel, a program manager with the Windows Phone Developer Platform team hinted the company was considering a notification center for Windows Phone.

On being questioned over lack of notification center, Fennel admitted: "We ran out of time."

"It's very important to me...We get tons of feedback from developers that they want something like that as well. I promise we are thinking very very hard on that one."

Reportedly, the absence of notification center is evident when a notification is triggered and disappears, especially when Live Tile is not enabled for a particular app, according to The Verge.

Microsoft representatives at Build this week pointed toward Live Tiles as a way to display notifications, but Microsoft is considering a system to aggregate toast notifications for a quick overview.
