A 23-year-old man has been charged with possession of class A drugs after children were given wraps of cocaine while they were trick or treating in Oldham.

Donald Junior Green, of Royton, is alleged to have handed the primary school children small bags of cocaine after they called at a house in the Royton area of Greater Manchester.

The drugs were discovered when the children returned to their home and emptied out their bags. Suspicious parents called police.

Police confirmed that none of the children had ingested the cocaine.

Supt Catherine Hankinson said: "The parents and police acted quickly when this report was made,in the interests of public safety.

"We understand this to be an isolated incident."

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and was later released without charge.

Green is due to appear before Oldham magistrates' court.
