In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Brooklyn Nets home opener against new cross-town rival New York Knicks has been postponed.

This will be the Nets inaugural season in Brooklyn, and they were set to open the brand new $1 billion Barclays Center Thursday night, but the hurricane devastated the New York area, causing massive flooding and shutting down much of the city’s public transportation system.

There is no official word on when the game will be made up, but it could also mean the Knicks home-opener may be pushed back as well.
