Struggling to repeat their blistering offensive showing from last season, the Detroit Lions take on the Seattle Seahawks Sunday afternoon at Ford Field.

The Lions are on a short week after scoring their fewest points in a game since 2010, as they fell 13-7 to the Chicago Bears Monday night. In that year they beat Green Bay 7-3 in Week 14.

Detroit’s second ranked passing offense has gained yards, but has failed to reach the end zone at the same clip as their high-octane game last year. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has five touchdowns through six games, when he bested that mark last season after two games.

Stafford was 28-for-46 for 263 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Bears, and All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson had a season-low three receptions for 34 yards.

The 2-4 Lions have stayed in many games thanks to an improved defense that is ranked eighth in the league, and sixth in pass coverage, giving up 210.5 passing yards per game.

Detroit will have to capitalize on their new found strength, and generate more turnovers, as they only have two interceptions on the season.

That production has been kick started by the return of safety Louis Delmas, who came back in Week 6. Delmas is questionable against Seattle, but is expected to play.

The Lions can use Delmas against Seahawks’ rookie quarterback Russell Wilson, who is 28th in the NFL in passer rating and has seven interceptions this season.

Seattle came off their biggest win of the season against New England, only to face NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers four days later and dropped their third straight division game 13-6 in a punishing game.

Wilson had his worst game of the season going 9-for-23 for 122 yards and one pick for a season-low 38.7 passer rating.

Headed by linebacker K.J. Wright’s team-leading 54 tackles and defensive end Chris Clemons 7.0 sacks, Seattle’s stingy defense lets up 15.1 points per contest, good for third in the league, and is eighth against the pass.

Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch is fourth in the NFL in rushing with 652 yards, and gained 103 yards against the 49ers, but has scored just two touchdowns this season.

Betting Odds: Detroit is favored by 1 point

Over/Under: 43 points

Prediction:  Stafford might be regressing from his 5,000-yard season of a year ago, and unless he can get the ball out quickly, Seattle’s pass rush will dominate the game. Look for Wilson to lead the Seahawks to the victory.

Predicted Score: Seattle 27, Detroit 10
