As they prepare for their next La Liga match Sunday against Real Mallorca, Jose Mourinho’s side is also looking forward to the January transfer market.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Tottenham Spurs midfielder Gareth Bale, according to TalkSport.

Madrid is prepared to offer Spurs chariman Daniel Levy a £50 million deal for the 23-year-old Bale, which could entice the club that has a history of cashing in on young, talented players.

Over the summer, Bale signed an extension with Tottenham that runs until 2016, which drove his price up for any inquiring team, but it appears Bale’s actual market value is around £35 million. However it is unknown if Bale would welcome a transfer.

Los Blancos stumbled out of the gate to start the La Liga season, but have since righted the ship, only giving up points in a tie with first-place Barcelona after the first four matches of the season, and winning three of their last four league games.

Still Madrid is constantly looking to improve their roster, and bringing in the Welsh born midfielder, who has scored 23 goals in 120 appearances with Tottenham since he joined up in 2007, could give Mourinho more options in his midfield.

Both clubs would surely hope to avoid the same protracted negotiation they went through with Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, which was finalized in the last days of this summer’s transfer period for £30 million, after White Hart Lane sent Modric home until the deal was done.

This is the second time this week Madrid has been rumored for a big move during January's transfer session. The club was also linked to Roma's Daniele De Rossi, who Mourinho has admired since his days at Inter Milan.
