In the rolling seven-day average poll conducted between Oct. 17 and 23, Obama leads 48 percent to Romney’s 47 percent among registered voters. Among likely voters though, Gallup’s tracking shows Romney with a 3-percentage point advantage, 50 percent to 47 percent.

Gallup’s poll isn’t the only one showing a dead heat going into the Nov. 6 general election.

On Monday, a Washington Post/ABC News tracking poll showed a draw between the rivals with likely national voters favoring Obama 49 percent and Romney 48 percent. This of course was before the final presidential debate, after which the consensus of several polls was that Obama won.

Romney has been steadily closing the gap in several swing states with a CBS News/Quinnipiac University poll finding Obama’s lead dropped 10 points in Ohio in just a month. Obama still leads Romney there 50 percent to 45 percent.
