Student of the Year
"Student Of The Year" is giving tough competition to previous releases like "OMG Oh My God!" and "English Vinglish" - the two films which were dominating the overseas and domestic BO for the past few weeks.
The movie started on a good note and maintained excellent figures in its first weekend. The movie starring Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in the lead role has raked in approximately ₹30 crore in its opening weekend, trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh said.
According to reports, the movie was released in more than 1,400 screens across the country.
Despite no big star cast and Navratri festivities in between the movie opened to a good response across the country and raked in ₹9.25 crore in the first day. According to Adarsh, it's the biggest opening ever for a film starring newcomers. The first day collection was bigger than many big-budget movies that released this year.
The movie also made about ₹5 crore on Monday taking the overall four day total to approximately ₹35 crore.
With Dasara holidays this week, the movie is expected fetch some good numbers. It is expected cross the ₹60 crore mark at the domestic box office in the first week.
The film is also doing fairly well on the overseas front collecting ₹6.95 crores in its opening weekend. Now the world wide total of the movie stands at ₹41.95 crore.
