Generations, and musical worlds, are colliding. Wolfgang Van Halen has taken to Twitter to sling insults at One Direction.

According to Spinner, Wolfgang Van Halen, son of legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, ran into the boy band Wednesday in Birmingham, England. Wolfgang, aside from being the bassist for his father's band, is currently on tour with Tremonti, where he also plays bass.

Tremonti was on tour with Slash, had just played Newcastle on Monday and were set to play Birmingham on Wednesday. According to Wolfgang’s tweets, the encounter with One Direction at the Birmingham hotel was none too friendly.

According to Wolfgang’s Twitter, “Fun fact: Was just insulted by that s----y boy band #OneDirection in the lobby of our hotel this morning! Greetings Birmingham!” According to Van Halen, One Direction insulted him as well as Eric Friedman, guitarist for Creed and Tremonti, and Garret Whitlock, Tremonti’s drummer.

Van Halen gave no other details, but he did have some harsh comments for the band. Van Halen tweeted twice more on his encounter with One Direction including, “No joke. That ACTUALLY happened. That group of kids in #OneDirection were d---heads to @IIEROCKII @GWDrums and I.”

On Twitter, One Direction is constantly updating about the band’s current tour and life on the road, but has made no mention of the incdent.

For now Van Halen has the final say on the matter, including one last tweet at the expense of the band. “They must call themselves that because all of their hair points in #OneDirection,” was the last thing Van Halen tweeted about the encounter.

Chances are this feud will blow over quickly and quietly but, for now, rock beats pop.
