David Beckham To Pursue An Acting Career? [PHOTOS]
David Beckham has already established his name in the world of sports and even achieved success with his underwear clothing line. This time, the British footballer is reportedly going to try his luck with an acting career after signing up on a cameo appearance on Matthew Perry's latest TV comedy "Go On."
In the NBC series "Go On," comedian actor Matthew Perry will portray the character of a widowed sportscaster named Ryan King. To appear as a guest on the TV show, the former "Friends" star has chosen the 37-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder. Other famous real-life sports personalities are also expected to make a guest appearance on the TV show.
"We've talked to David Beckham and he said that he would do it, so that was very exciting. We have asked ice hockey star Wayne Gretzky. I'd love to have him on the show at some point," Perry told World Entertainment News Network. "My favorite athlete of all time is tennis ace Jimmy Connors, so, I guess my hope is that we get Jimmy Connors to come back and work with me again, which would be a dream come true," Perry further added.
Meanwhile, David Beckham was given a nudge by Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise. The "Mission Impossible" actor reportedly encourages David Beckham to pursue an acting career. "I've been encouraging him to become an actor. He's got the looks, he's got everything. He'd be terrific. I'd love to do action movies with Beckham. He would be great, he could kick ass," Cruise said.
Nevertheless, the former Manchester United player is still in doubt that a career change from sports to acting will do him any good. "Tom's not offered any acting lessons yet or parts," Beckham said. "I'm not interested. I'm a terrible actor," Beckham added.
