Hardware manufacturer Asus is about to launch its latest device - Asus PadFone 2. It is expected to battle head on with Samsung's own hybrid device, Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

After gaining recognition from making Google's latest tablet, Asus is a competitor to watch out for. It is expected that the new hybrid device of the company boasts a larger 4.7-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel display and also upgrades its processor to a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm. There is also 1GB of RAM and 13MP camera. It is also believed that the device will have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

South Korea-based tech giant Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 2 last August 29 at IFA Berlin Event. The device boasts some of its amazing features such as a huge screen display, 4G/LTE connectivity, new operating system, NFC support, S-pen, etc.

The aforementioned devices bridge the gap between tablet and smartphone. Below is the comparison of the two devices.

Design - The Galaxy Note is popular for its 'phablet' design and stylus input. Meanwhile, Asus built on its successes with the Transformer tablets, which became laptops with the addition of a dock, by instead using a phone as the base device which could then dock with a tablet and then a keyboard. It also supported stylus input and allowed calls to be taken via a Bluetooth handset built into the pen.

Screen Display - Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 features a 5.55-inch Super AMOLED capacitive multitouch display. It's reinforced with Gorilla Glass and sports with a 1280x720 HD pixel resolution. The phone handset itself has a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ capacitive multitouch display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 312ppi. However, the display of the tablet is not yet revealed.

Storage - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants for onboard space and has a MicroSD slot up to 64GB. Asus PadFone 2 has the same setup of internal storage but with a MicroSD slot up to 32GB.

Processor - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is equipped with 1.6GHz quad core Exynos processor with 2GB of dual-channel RAM. The ASUS Padfone 2 is powered by Qualcomm's S4 (Series 4) Pro quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

Operating System - Both devices will run with the latest Android v4.1 Jelly Bean.

Camera - Samsung Galaxy Note 2's 8MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front camera do not stand a chance with Asus PadFone 2 13MP shooter and 1.2 MP front camera.

It will all boil down to the preference of the buyer. The size of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the two devices of Asus PadFone 2 are a bit cumbersome for some people. However, the perks of owning two devices in one may bring advantages.
