Audiences’ favorite thing about Oprah is returning to TV as a two-hour special on the OWN network.
“Oprah’s Favorite Things: 2012” will air on Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET and showcase a new set of luxury items that the powerhouse journalist especially enjoys.
Right in time for the holidays, Winfrey announced on Oct. 12 that the special will feature items perfect for gifting, as well as a "top-secret giveaway" for a group of military spouses from all of the different branches. For the first time in favorite things history, home viewers will also have a special chance to text and win various items during the show.
Oprah’s Favorite Things has continued through her publication, O Magazine. Winfrey says that she and a team including O magazine's editor-at-large Gayle King, creative director Adam Glassman, designers Michael Kors and Tory Burch, and celebrity chef Curtis Stone put together this year’s magazine list that will hit stands on Nov. 6.
The last “Oprah’s Favorite Things,” aired as a two part special in 2010; a sendoff to Winfrey’s famed day time talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show.
During the show Winfrey gave away the newly introduced first generation iPad that she called “her favorite thing ever,” and the “the best invention of the century so far.”
Among many of her other favorite things, she gave away: Ugg sequin boots, a Coach bag, Nordstrom lingerie, chicken pies, a device to keep herbs fresh, diamond earrings, mini croissants, silk leggings, popcorn, Miraclebody jeans, Le Creuset cookware and a Josh Groban CD.
Even more fantastic than the iPad however; the final favorite things audience on the Oprah Winfrey Show received 2012 VW Beetles.
According to USA TODAY, Winfrey reached out to President and CEO of Volkswagen of America, Jonathan Browning who donated the 275 Beetles with the applicable taxes and fees included.
If previous years and the magazine editions are any indication, the Examiner suggests that viewers should expect this year’s favorite things to include a plethora of “fabulously fattening foods.”
