The debate starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time and will be held at Center College in Danville, Ky. It is the first time Biden and Ryan will meet. They will speak on foreign and domestic policy. The event comes at a time when Democrats are looking to gain ground before the Nov. 6 election, especially after a disappointing performance from President Barack Obama in the first presidential debate last week. Obama’s poor performance pushed the once trailing Mitt Romney into the lead in some election polls.

-- While his second-in-command is working to get the upper hand on Republicans, Obama will be getting ready for a campaign rally at the University of Miami this afternoon. It is the president’s second trip to the university in three weeks, highlighting the importance of Florida as a crucial swing state.
