The singer has announced that she will not be working with Clint Eastwood after all.

Beyoncé has announced that she will not star in Clint Eastwood's remake of the classic film A Star Is Born.

The 31-year singer, who is married to rapper Jay Z, confirmed that she has been forced to drop out of the project because of scheduling issues.

"I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood," she told E! News. "For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together."

The Single Ladies hitmaker was first linked to the Oscar-winning director's remake of the original 1937 romance in 2011. But after she became pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy, production was pushed back.

The film, which was remade in 1954 and again in 1976, follows a young performer who falls in love with an older, fading, star.

Hollywood hunks including Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, and Johnny Depp are all said to be in the running to play the male lead as the declining star. The role was taken by Kris Kristofferson, playing opposite Barbra Streisand in the 1976 version.

Beyoncé has had some success in films, including Dreamgirls, Obsessed and Cadillac Records.
