"Fifty Shades of Grey" has recently hired a screenplay writer. Are the producers anywhere near casting Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele?

For the "Fifty Shades" movie script, producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will work with Kelly Marcel. She was executive producer of the defunct TV sci-fi series "Terra Nova."

"We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly's engagement with the characters and world E.L. James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family," Brunetti said.

Meanwhile, Mila Kunis, Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive," is reportedly the current front runner to playing the role of Miss Steele.

In a report by The Sun, Kunis' girl-next-door vibe is being considered to be a match to Anastasia's character.

"Perks of Being a Wallflower" star Emma Watson has been widely reported to be a top choice for the role. However, Watson stopped the rumours when she told reporters she's never been approached for the film adaptation of E.L. James's "Fifty Shades of Grey."

As for the role of Christian Grey, a number of names remain up in the air: Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder appear to be leading the fans' choice category.

For her part, James won't get herself in trouble by disclosing her personal choices for the two lead roles.

"It gets messy," she told E! News. "You might end up with somebody else [and it gets awkward]."
