Katy Perry's parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, are more in favor of dating her bestfriend Robert Pattinson after her relationship with John Mayer did not take off.

According to sources, Katy's parents are encouraging their daughter to date other men and they prefer her good friend Robert Pattinson.

The 27-year-old Katy Perry is known to having a close friendship with the 26-year-old British "Twilight" heartthrob. The "Fireworks" singer even helped the young actor get through his recent heartbreak with his girlfriend Kristen Stewart.

"They are close friends and can just be themselves when they are with each other," a source revealed. "Katy has been trying to be as supportive as she can for Rob. She understands what he's going through and wants to help him. Katy has been urging Rob to go out and be silly and have fun!" the source further shared.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry's parents are hoping that their daughter's friendship with Robert Pattinson might turn into something more. They believe that it could also distract Katy Perry from John Mayer, who has this notorious reputation in Hollywood for being unable to hold a relationship for long. He dated fellow celebrities Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson.

"Katy's parents would love her to go out with someone nice like Robert Pattinson and not a man with John's reputation," a source revealed. "They find his attitude to women reprehensible," the source added. The conservative parents disapproved of Katy's previous marriage to Russell Brand.
