Returning after one of the most controversial wins in NFL history, the Seattle Seahawks face the St. Louis Rams Sunday afternoon at Edward Jones Dome.
The game begins at 1pm eastern time and will be shown by FOX, or watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.
Seattle takes the field since their now infamous 14-12 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
Seahawks receiver Golden Tate and Packers safety M.D. Jennings fought in the air over quarterback Russell Wilson’s last second heave into the end zone and bedlam ensued over the final call. The replacement referees ruled it a simultaneous catch, which results in possession for the passing team, and game winning touchdown for Seattle.
The controversial ending overshadowed a prolific display by Seattle’s defense, which sacked Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers eight times in the first half and hit him another 12 times during the game. Defensive end Chris Clemons was a force with four sacks, which was one shy of his total from all of last season.
Running back Marshawn Lynch also performed well, with 98 yards on 25 carries, leading Seattle's 6th ranked rushing offense.
On the flip side, there was very little controversy in the Rams performance in Week 3.
Head coach Jeff Fischer and St. Louis must bounce back from a 23-6 loss to the Chicago Bears. Neither team was efficient on offense, but the Bears defense managed to sack quarterback Sam Bradford six times and forced him to throw two interceptions.
Bradford went 18-for-35 for 152 yards, and connected with receiver Danny Amendola for five receptions and 66 yards. Amendola has 25 receptions this season, good for second in the NFL.
St. Louis needs to find a solution for its porous offense. The rushing game is ranked 20th and the passing game is 27th thus far. Running back Steven Jackson has only managed 140 yards on the ground this season, but is still the team’s leading rusher.
Jackson is questionable for the Rams and so is defensive tackle Michael Brockers, who was limited in practice this week with an ankle injury.
Betting Odds: Seattle is favored by 3 points; Over/Under: 38.5 points
Prediction: Whether it was a fluke win or not, Seattle’s defense looks like one of the best in the league, and with St. Louis’ offense sputtering along, the Seahawks should claim their third straight win.
Predicted Score: Seattle 20, St. Louis 10
